In a quickly run race Hosting was taken back to last from his outside barrier to settle down some 12 lengths from the leader Sistine Demon who worked hard in front. McEvoy aboard Hosting niggled his mount along following Taddei Tondo turning for home four wide before peeling off that horses back, to come with his run in the straight on the outside of the field. He responded well to McEvoy’s urgings, finishing on resolutely grabbing the lead in the dying strides to score narrowly. Taddei Tondo had a similar run to the winner. He settled down in third last position one out with a trail. He commenced a three wide move from the 700m before taking the home turn four wide. He finished on gamely and only just missed. Tango’s Daughter came from sixth one off the fence. She travelled well in the run and moved up ominously three wide approaching the home turn before coming with her run at the top of the straight. She hit the front at the 100m but could not fend off the late challenge of the first and second home on her outside.
