The consistent mare Pentasia was smartly away and eased to get a good trip in third on the rails. She switched out three wide on the home bend, challenged at the 200m, took the lead at the 100m and drew clear to win nicely by a length. Gundy Son was back about tenth one off the rails most of the way to the turn. He was finally able to switch around heels at the 250m and made up a lot of ground for a good second, beaten a length. Rocker was sixth between runners to the 600m before switching out at the home turn. He got to fourth at the 100m and battled on quite well for third. The favourite Griffon ($4.80) was last on the rails to the home turn. He was still well back at the 200m, got a split in the centre at the 100m and ran on for a late-closing fourth, beaten two lengths. *ANZ
