Eastern Prince was away well from the gates and settled down in fifth position on the fence about eight lengths from the leader Agitate who was taken on in front. Turning for home Eastern Prince was under pressure and and still a long way from the leader. Nash Rawiller switched him off the fence to be four wide and in the clear at the top of the straight. He was making steady ground but laying in under pressure. Rawiller did not give up on him and he kept responding getting up in the final strides when the leader tired late, to score an improbable win. Agitate showed his usual gate speed to lead. He was taken on in front and asked to sprint again early in the straight. He looked the certain winner at the 200m but he tired late to finish second. A good effort under the circumstances. La Val raced in ninth position three wide facing the breeze, about 12 lengths from the leaders. He took the home turn three wide and responded well to hard riding, putting in a good run that died a little in the final 100m. A solid effort after covering extra ground. Architect came from second last and widest on the home turn to make up many lengths in the straight to finish on the heels of the placegetters in fourth. *ANZ
