After placings at four of his first five starts, Peter Robl-trained two-year-old gelding Curdled broke through for his first win, doing so narrowly in this Listed race. He settled in fifth place, one off the rails behind a good tempo before moving up well nearing the home turn. He challenged at the 200m and then after quite a battle he gained the decision by the narrowest of margins. Marseille En Fleur raced in fourth place, one out and one back, improved smartly to take the lead on turning for home and then fought gamely all the way in the straight to finish a close second in a very honest effort. Guissola raced in seventh place, moved up (wide) at the home turn, got to third at the 200m and kept battling well to take the minor placing. The favourite Pretty Fast has a nice trip from her good barrier (2) in third place on the rails but was blocked at a vital stage in the straight, getting clear too late to be effective and her (4.6 lengths) eighth should be overlooked.
