Kirramosa went forward from her outside barrier (10), unlike last Saturday’s Wakeful Stakes (Gr 2, 2000m) where she settled a clear last. She travelled along nicely in fifth place, one off the rails, to the 600m. She switched wide on straightening, improved to third nearing the 300m and kept running on determinedly to score a gutsy long-head win. It was a strong staying effort and she is a deserved Oaks winner who could go on to the make her presence felt in open company Group One racing next season. Zanbagh enjoyed a perfect trip in second place to the home turn. She tried very hard from the 300m point and kept fighting gamely all the way to the post for a close and impressive second placing. She is a lightly raced and quality staying filly with quite a future. Solicit went straight to the front. She steadied the pace until picking up the tempo nearing the 600m. She stuck grimly to her task in the straight, only being headed in the closing stages for a very good, close-up third. Gypsy Diamond was back in sixth place most of the way to the 600m. She improved to fourth at the 300m and kept fighting on nicely in the sprint home to hold that placing at the post. It was a nice effort. Every Faith ran on very well for a most encouraging fifth, coming from last at the 600m. She looks a promising stayer. Arabian Gold was ninth to the 600m and made some ground to finish sixth, without threatening while May's Gold appeared tested by the trip and weakened from fourth to finish back in eighth place. *ANZ
