I Am The General followed his good debut third in the Magic Millions Clockwise Classic (1000m) at Ballarat on 24 November with smart win here. He began well and soon crossed to the rails side, sharing the lead at an average early tempo. He sprinted passing the 300m and held on for a good neck win, dashing home in a quick 34.13 (last 600m). The favourite Chivalry ($1.70) did not show much early pace and settled back about seventh on the rails. He got through behind the eventual winner I Am The General at the 400m, worked into the clear at the 150m and kept fighting on for a sound second, beaten a neck, being somewhat disadvantaged by the sprint home tactics of the race. The filly Notonyourlife was a handy third early on, put in a good run at the 200m and then kept battling on well for a sound third, beaten just under two lengths. *ANZ
