A most impressive victory to Hucklebuck who always travelled the best in the run and sprinted impressively to score a comfortable one and a quarter length victory. Hucklebuck settled down in fifth position three back on the fence, slightly over-racing in the steady middle stages of the race. He switched off the fence across heels on cornering to secure clear running between horses. Dominic Tourneur rode confidently on Hucklebuck looming up approaching the 300m. It took him a few strides to pick up when asked, but he always had it in control taking the lead at the 150m and drawing away to score with a bit in hand. He is a most underrated horse and should be followed throughout the autumn. Prince Harada crossed easily from his wide barrier to race on the outside of the leader Worth A Ransom. He pressured the leader on straightening and bested him at the 150m but could not match the acceleration of the winner on his outside. A solid effort in defeat. The Quarterback followed the winner in the run four back on the fence. He was held up for a run at the top of the straight but got into the clear at the 300m He battled on gamely when clear but did not have the some turn of foot as the winner. A solid effort. Criterion was good coming from fourth last and wide in the straight, he was finding the line well for fourth and should improve for the run and further.
