Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained filly Setsuna has followed her good debut second in the Gimcrack Stakes (Listed, 1000m) at Randwick on 30 September now with two impressive wins since going to Melbourne. She was quickly away here, travelled well in front before grabbing a clear break at the 200m and was not threatened from that point to score stylishly, dashing home in a quick 33.92 (last 600m). Tony McEvoy-trained filly roobeena settled in seventh place, improved from the 200m getting to second at the 100m and then battled on really well for a promising second on debut. Her stablemate Aristocratic Miss raced in sixth place, moved to fourth at the 100m and then fought on nicely to take third, also on debut. The favourite Qafila did not show any early pace, travelled back in tenth place and caught the eye when clear in running on late for (2.5 lengths) fourth and should appreciate further. Yulong Monoceros was handy all the way and held on for (2.6 lengths) fifth while the Robert Smerdon-trained filly Havana Heat did well in running on from last for (3.6 lengths) sixth in a promising debut and is a filly to watch.
