Lady Antebellum was again slowly away, was last in the 11-horse field shortly at the start and settled near the rear on the rails. She was travelling well nearing the home turn and Ben Melham angled for a run in the centre at the 200m. She then got a late split at the 100m and came with a fast, late burst to grab a narrow but impressive win. Spitfire Lady raced outside the leader and looked the winner as she drew to the lead at the 200m. She was only caught in the last few strides for a good second. Nadhima did not show a lot of early pace and settled about ninth, one off the rails. She switched across heels on straightening, challenged at the 200m and kept fighting on nicely for a sound third. The favourite Benenden ($3.80) began well from her inside barrier (1) then eased to race in seventh place on the rails. She improved between runners on straightening, got a clear run passing the 200m but only kept battling on from that point for a length and quarter fourth. *ANZ
