The Bjorn Baker-trained filly Imposing Lass continues her progression through the classes in taking out this Listed race, her fourth win in succession. She began well and went to the front, then steading the pace to a degree (first 1400m 1:14.38) before lifting the tempo from the 600m. She was challenged rounding the home turn but then kept responding, fighting back gamely for a good win, which was also an excellent trial for the Queensland Oaks (Gr 1, 2400m) on 4 June. Self Esteem was third in the early stages, moved up outside the leader at the 1200m. She challenged strongly once into the home straight and then battled on for a good second, just finding the winner a bit too good. Kebede was fifth on the rails, went through to third at the 200m and then kept battling on soundly to hold the minor placing. Falkenberg was near last in the 14-horse field, got along the rails on turning for home and kept battling on quite well for (1.9 lengths) fourth.
