Godolphin’s three-year-old filly Pearls, a sister to Group One winner Helmet (Exceed And Excel) and a half-sister to Group One winner Epaulette (Commands), scored a very good winning debut. She did not have much early pace and settled in eighth place, one off the rails before improving (wide with cover) nearing the home turn. She got to third at the 100m and then finished too well for a soft win at the post. She should appreciate further and looks to be a filly with a good future. Paul Perry-trained colt Gendebien drove through to retain the lead on the rails and held the front until half-way down the straight, then holding on for a sound second on debut. Team Hawkes-trained Elemenohpee raced outside the leader most of the way and kept fighting on well for a sound third, his second placing in two starts to date.
