Peter and Paul Snowden-trained colt Tchaikovsky followed his promising third at his second race start in the Todman Stakes (Gr 2, 1200m) at Randwick on 10 March with a good win here. He began well and gradually crossed completely to the front approaching the 600m. He then travelled very well, dashed clear on straightening and went on to score easily. Godolphin-raced colt Wagner settled near the tail on the field and ran on nicely, without looking likely to trouble the winner for second, his second such placing in two starts to date.
