Commissar missed the start but recovered quickly and immediately went forward and soon crossed to the lead. He then ran along at a good tempo, setting up a clear lead at the 800m. He turned for home with a lead of eight lengths and then battled back well to score by two and a half-lengths. It was his first win in seven starts but he did so in good style.
