The Team Hawkes-trained gelding The Cheetah resumed after his debut third in a 3YO Maiden (1100m) at Canterbury on 20 January to win here. He settled in third place (on the rails) in the small six-horse field before moving up on straightening. He then battled a bit too well, drawing to the lead in the closing stages to win nicely.
