The David Hayes-trained three-year-old filly Green Roller staged a good staying performance to win. She settled about sixth one off the rails and moved up wide with cover at the 600m before going to the extreme outside at the home turn. She was giving the leader (Papillon) about five lengths at the 400m, but she ran on very strongly and won impressively by two lengths, going away at the post. First Bloom, from the Darren Weir stable, raced in ninth place on the rails. She was held up for a run approaching the turn before getting into the clear at the 200m, she then made good ground along the rails to grab second. Papillon led, and after being pressured from the 800m, pinched a break on straightening and looked the winner, before tiring in the closing stages, to finish 2.2 lengths third at the post. *ANZ
