Admiral took his record to 14 wins from 19 starts but he had to overcome a protest and a track further downgraded to a Heavy8 before doing so. He travelled comfortably in third place (racing away from the rails), moved up in the centre of the track, nearing the home turn, set out after the leader on straightening and came with a late run to grab a game win at the post (veering in and checking the runner-up in the closing stages). Outsider Miss It And A Bit went to the front, grabbed a big break rounding the home turn. She looked the winner when still well clear at the 100m but wilted late for second. The rider then protested unsuccessfully against the winner after being checked at the post. Rose Of Innocence was back in second last place in the eight-horse field, went very deep from the 600m and made late ground for third.
