Gregers began well from her good barrier (2) and eased to race in third spot, one off the rails. She moved up nicely three wide coming to the home turn and showed a great turn of foot to dash clear on straightening. She then raced away to score most impressively by just over four and a quarter lengths. It was a very smart first-up performance. Metastasio was second early and moved up outside the leader (Maroon Bay) at the 700m mark. She challenged approaching the turn, but was under pressure on turning for home. She then kept battling on fairly well to finish second. Jennyfromtheblock was last in the small five-horse field, one off the rails. She made a run wide out nearing the home turn and did quite well, making ground late for third. Maroon Bay showed good pace, leading the field into the straight, but she tired from the 150m to finish fourth. *ANZ
