Our Nkwazi, the $31 outsider in the six-horse field, settled back in fourth place and wide, following a fast early tempo. He fanned wide rounding the home turn, went to third under pressure on straightening, but he kept responding and came with a late run to grab a half head win at the post. Solsay raced in fifth place, one off the rails, before improving in the centre at the turn. He got a good run through on turning for home, challenged strongly at the 100m and kept fighting on well for a close second. African Pulse had a good trip in third place behind the leading pair, moved up under riding nearing the home turn, challenged at the 100m and then fought on for a close-up third. The favourite Lord Of The Sky was a shade slow from the barrier and was then ridden vigorously from his inside draw (1) to drive though along the rails the share the lead with the speedy Siwa Lady at his girth. The then went along at a solid tempo before Lord Of The Sky took a clear lead rounding the home turn. He held the lead to the 100m but his early efforts told and he tired for (1.7 lengths) fourth. Broken was last on the rails and was hard ridden from the turn, plugging on for (7.7 lengths) fifth while the early leader Siwa Lady dropped to finish (11 lengths) last in the six-horse field. *ANZ
