Promising three-year-old Just Magical followed his firstup win at in Three-Year-Old Maiden (1000m) at Mornington last month with a narrow but good win here. He began smartly from his inside barrier (1) and enjoyed a nice trip behind the leaders. He got a split to challenge at the home turn and finished a bit too well to score by a short neck. The filly Our Edition showed good early pace and soon crossed to the lead. She then fought back very well when challenged in the straight, holding on for a good (short neck) second. Albert Road was seventh on the rails, got an inside run, going to third on turning for home but got clear too late in the straight for an unlucky third.
