Darren Weir-trained colt Dalradian is now unbeaten in two starts, following his good win on debut at Bendigo on 17 October, winning here well, albeit narrowly. He was smartly away and settled nicely in fourth place on the rails. He got a split at the home turn, drove along the rails at the 100m and finished a bit too well to score in a photo. Valliano showed good early pace and settled outside the leader (Delta D’Or). He went to the front on straightening and was only headed in the last few strides for a very good second after working most of the way. Pearl Congenial was ridden hard in the early stages in an effort to overcome her wide barrier (12) but was caught three deep outside the leading pair. She then fought on in good style in the straight for third, putting up a sound effort after a difficult trip.
