Pit Boss returned to SA after two runs in NSW. He raced in fifth place before improving with cover from the 600m. He was under pressure in the heavy conditions on turning for home and wound-up late to score a solid head win at the post. Unspun was handily placed, but three wide without cover. He improved (still three wide) from the 700m and worked to a narrow lead at the 100m, only to be caught on the post for a good second, beaten a head. The filly Forever Discreet led to the home turn, pinched a break on straightening, but tired in the latter stages for third. The David Hayes-trained Tawjeeh raced outside the leader until the 300m point but then tired in the heavy going to finish second last, beaten five and half lengths. *ANZ
