The promising Star Rolling was ridden patiently, travelling well midfield in the nine-horse field, following a moderate pace (first 1200m 1:16.25). He improved, three wide without cover, from the 700m and moved up strongly rounding the home turn. He took the lead at the 250m and went on to win impressively by two lengths. Let’s Make Adeal, a good fourth at weight-for-age at Flemington at her previous start, was about seventh between runners to the 800m. She then moved up wide from the 600m to challenge on turning for home. She went to second at the 200m and battled on quite well to hold that position to the post, having no chance with the winner. The imported Araldo was last before improving (racing widest of all) from the 700m to move to third at the 200m. He then kept fighting on nicely to hold third despite laying in and being unsuited by the sprint-home tactics of the race. *ANZ
