He was eased from his wide barrier (12) and settled at the tail of the field before improving (deep) from the 800m. He challenged (widest of all) at the home turn and finished too well to score a good win in a smart performance. The favourite Modulate led early on before settling in third place on the rails. He challenged at the 200m and then battled on well for second after appearing to have had every chance. Magic Boy had a nice trip in fifth place on the rails from his inside barrier (1). He was shuffled back nearing the home turn but got a split at the 200m and then ran on nicely along the rails for third.
