John Sargent-trained colt Peter John put up a very promising effort winning here on debut. He was quickly away but was caught deep from his wide barrier (9) and was then eased to race in third place, caught three wide without cover. He moved up strongly to take the lead shortly after turning for home and then went on to score quite impressively, with something in hand. He is a horse to watch.
