After unplaced runs at her first two starts, the Clare Cunningham-trained filly Onthetake put up a really promising effort in winning here. She went back from her wide barrier (10) and raced in second last place (on the rails) in the 11-horse field before improving between runners rounding the home turn. She angled into clear running on passing the 200m and then came with a late bid to snatch a narrow but good win. She is a filly to watch. Godolphin-raced colt Osorno settled in eighth place, one off the rails, improved (deep) nearing the home turn, sprinted smartly to take the lead at the 150m but could not then hold off the late-closing winner, whom he conceded 4.5kg, to finish a close second in a very sound effort.
