Aussies Love Sport showed good pace from his wide barrier (12) and crossed to race outside the leader (Champagne Cath) before taking the lead at the 200m mark. He then drew clear and went on to score decisively by just over a length in smart time. He looks a classy colt. The lightly raced Open Book was fourth one out and one back before improving three wide nearing the home turn. He challenged at the 200m and then fought on gamely for a good second. He was stepping up in class from two provincial wins and shows good potential. The filly Champagne Cath began smartly and soon led. She set the pace until passing the 200m and fought on nicely for third, showing a return to her best form. Hooked was sixth on the rails to the turn. He switched into the clear at the 300m and kept battling on well for a sound fourth. The Queenslander Teronado made good ground for fifth after being near last at the turn. *ANZ
