Abbasso was a little slowly away from his inside barrier to settle down third last on the fence. He was travelling well approaching the home turn in a moderately run race. He made good ground to take a split between horses three wide before finishing on too strongly to score a narrow win in a four horse finish. A solid effort. Oxford Poet lead at a moderate speed. He kicked clear in the straight and fought gamely the whole way to the line just going under late on. Sabino Speed raced on the quarters of the leader. He was taken to the middle of the track in the straight and battled on under hard riding to finish a close third. Longma came from second last and stayed closer to the inside on what was inferior ground to finish a close fourth. A good run. *ANZ
