The Godolphin-raced pair of fillies fought out the first two-year-old race of the season in Sydney with Calaverite putting up a good performance to win. She was eased at the start and settled back in second last place in the eight-horse field. She improved wide with cover rounding the turn, put in a quick run to challenge on passing the 200m and finished too well to score by half a length in smart time (57.64). Her stablemate Igraine showed pace holding her position in third place on the rails before moving through to challenge shortly after straightening. She got to a narrow lead at the 100m and battled gamely after working on the pace for a good second. Speak Fondly missed the start slightly and showed good pace, recovering to settle in fifth place, one off the rails. She moved up (deep) rounding the turn, sprinted quickly to hit the lead at the 200m and then fought on quite well for sound third. Third favourite Prevail raced back in sixth place, between runners, got through to fifth at the 200m and battled on from that point to finish (2.8 lengths) fourth. Third favourite Flaunting raced in fifth place on the rails from her inside barrier (1) but was under pressure from the 200m, holding on for (4.9 lengths) fifth.
