The very consistent filly Catkins scored her fifth win in eight starts. She raced behind the leader (Golden Sunshine) and switched inside that horse passing the 300m, running on determinedly to win by a length at the post. The previously unbeaten Golden Sunshine was quickly away and led, easing wide on straightening looking for better going. She stuck grimly to her task only to be run down nearing the line for a good second. Villa Splendido was fourth on the rails, stuck to the inside running in the straight and battled on for third, beaten three lengths. The John O’Shea-trained pair were next – Knight Exemplar making ground from last to finish fourth while Charge Account ($3.80 fav) was outside the leader most of the way, went wide from the 600m but disappointed in the heavy going for fifth. *ANZ
