Group One winning mare Lights Of Heaven settled in a good spot, one out and one back in a very slow early pace (first 1400m 1:32.69). Luke Nolen therefore moved her up a bit early in the race, going three wide at the 600m. She drew to the lead at the 300m and then went on to win comfortably by almost two lengths. She has struck form at the right time and could further add to her record over the carnival. Hoylonny was slowly away and raced in second last place to the 600m but gained an ideal inside run on the turn, to be in a challenging position at the 300m. He found the winner too good but battled on nicely for second. Said Com raced closer today, being sixth one off the rails. He switched out wide on straightening and fought on quite well in the sprint home (leaders coming home in 34.62) to take third. The Victorian trained Hula Lua raced behind the leader (Why Not) and held on for fourth while Strike The Stars was shuffled back to last early and made ground for a sound fifth, being unsuited by the slow early pace. *ANZ
