Classy sprinter Mic Mac, having only his third run from a lengthy spell, scored a good win. He was smartly away and soon crossed to the lead. He then set a moderate pace (first 800m 48.69) and was travelled strongly rounding the home turn. He had to work hard to fight off several challengers in the straight, before drawing clear to win well by a length. Under The Sun raced outside the leader and eventual winner Mic Mac most of the way. He challenged that horse strongly at the 200m then kept battling on well for a good second. Said Com was sixth between runners and was held up for a run until nearing the 200m. He then ran on quite well in the sprint home for a sound third. Disciple was last in the eight-horse field to the 600m. He went to the centre on straightening, got through to third at the 200m and seemed to have every chance from that point to finish fourth. *ANZ
