An impressive win by Fighting Sun who drew right away in the straight to score by three lengths. The short-priced favourite settled nicely in second place on the quarters of the leader Mr Cha Cha in a steadily run race. He ranged up on cornering before taking the lead inside the 300m. He then quickened up nicely and scored with plenty in reserve. The race was run to suit, but his last 600m time was comparable to the older horses and the visual impression in the straight and his professional in the run all indicate Fighting Sun is a top class colt. Mr Cha Cha was used up to lead from his outside barrier. He enjoyed a mid race breather and straightened for home in front. He could not match his talented stablemate in the straight but to his credit battled on well for second. Ghibellines over-raced in the run, positioned in third on the rails. He switched across the heels of the leaders on straightening and plugged on at one pace to the line. He will be improved by the run. *ANZ
