The filly Native Land did not show much early pace and settled back in ninth place on the rails. She then travelled nicely and switched out nearing the home turn. She fanned wide on straightening, put in a good run to take a narrow lead at the 200m and then fought gamely to score a narrow but smart win. Mista Spot was near the rear on the rails, eased wider into clear running at the 300m and showed a good turn of foot to challenge at the 100m. He then battled strongly for second, putting up a nice effort. Great Esteem led the field until the final 200m and battled on quite well for third. *ANZ
