Favourite Wild Rain followed seconds at her first two runs this preparation with a very good win here. She began quickly and settled well outside the leader (Pretty Possum). She moved up strongly rounding the home turn, got to the front at the 300m, dashed clear at the 100m and went on to score decisively and in quick time (56.99). Office Bearer settled about seventh, wide with cover before commencing his bid from the 400m. He challenged at the 200m and fought well for a good second, just finding the winner too strong. Tried And Tired had a good run in fourth spot before moving up at the 400m. He looked a threat the 300m and then kept fighting on well under his top weight (60kg) for third. Pretty Possum showed good pace and led the field until passing the 300m and held on for (3.1 lengths) fourth.
