Havildar was away well from the gates and taken forward to race in second position on the outside of the leader Zamboanga who ran along in front. He pulled a little hard in the blinkers early on but settled better mid race before quickening up well in the straight. He hit the front at the 300m and maintained a clear advantage the whole way to the line.
