The Robert Smerdon-trained filly Motown Lil, having her third start this preparation, put up a promising effort in winning here. She settled back in seventh place, following a good pace, before moving up well (wide out) at the 300m. She then finished too well to grab a narrow but good win. The Danny O’Brien-trained Sacred Sham, a winner on debut in a Seymour Maiden (1000m) on 21 February, raced in fifth place, one off the rails, improved nicely at the home turn, briefly got to the front at the 100m and then fought well for a close up second.
