Darren Weir-trained colt Peruggia followed his win in a Maiden (1350m) at Donald at his sixth race start with a good win, stepping up in class here. He soon worked across from his outside barrier (12) to settle outside the leader (Into Rio). He got to the front on straightening, briefly looked beaten at the 200m before coming back to score a game win.
