The consistent four-year-old Someday ($3.50 favourite) was quickly away from his outside barrier (14) and was then eased to race wide past midfield but with cover. He improved at the 600m and was giving the leader about six lengths on straightening. He put in a strong run in the centre of the track passing the 200m, dashed to the lead at the 100m and then came away to win impressively by just over three lengths. Celtic Dancer raced outside the leader (Pellegrini) until into the straight, took the lead at the 200m and battled on nicely for second. Belltone raced midfield, trapped deep without cover after starting from a difficult barrier (12). He moved up approaching the turn and continued to fight on well for a good third. Tax Evader was near last to the home turn. He switched out on straightening, where he was giving the leader about eight lengths, and made good ground for fourth while Pellegrini led the field until nearing the 200m and battled on for fifth. *ANZ
