Written Up was smartly away from his wide barrier (9) and eased to get a good trip in fourth place, between runners. He got a split at the home turn, raced clear at the 200m and kept battling on in the heavy conditions to win narrowly by a short head at the post. French Hussler was caught wide from his difficult barrier (14) and settled midfield.
