The Darley-raced filly Moderate made it three wins from four starts with an impressive display here. She began well but was trapped wide and eased to settle last in the eight-horse field. She was giving the leader about seven lengths at the 600m before switching wide around the home turn, showing a good turn of foot to hit the lead at the 200m. She then dashed clear to win, being eased down at the post, by just over two lengths. She looks likely to progress to much better things. The Paul Messara-trained Phaedra was back in sixth place, wide without cover, and made a good run nearing the turn to challenge shortly after straightening. She then fought on quite well for second, having no chance with the winner but it was a sound effort, nevertheless. *ANZ
