The Gai Waterhouse-trained colt Wandjina, having his first run since his debut seventh in the Breeders’ Plate (Listed, 1000) in October, scored an impressive win. He began quickly from his outside barrier (11) and raced outside the leader (I Am Snippety) at a solid tempo, the pair establishing a clear lead, before drawing clear half-way down the straight to win by just over three lengths. He handled the Slow 6 conditions well and looks a smart colt. The Chris Waller-trained colt Country Warrior caught the eye on debut running on well from last to finish (three and a quarter lengths) second with the Gerald Ryan-trained filly Aerobar battling on well for third, also on debut. *ANZ
