Boban returned to winning ways under Glyn Schofield who was returning from a month long suspension. Boban was slowly away from the gates and a clear last in the early stages. Schofield improved his position to settle fifth on the fence, racing on the inside of the favourite It’s A Dundeel. Boban was shuffled back again to third last on the fence at the 500m but Schofield was sitting quietly allowing It’s A Dundeel to get first run on him. He took his mount to the centre of the course in the straight and quickened up smartly to race by It’s A Dundeel and score with a little in hand. Boban has been improved by two recent runs and should continue to improve with each run as indicated by his trainer Chris Waller at the start of his preparation. It’s A Dundeel was good in defeat, he was conceding race fitness to the top class Boban. He settled well in the run in sixth one off the fence, McDonald made a quick move to put him in contention approaching the 500m. He raced up to win his race in the straight but simply found the winner a little the better on the day. He will come on for the run. Hawkspur put in an eye-catching performance coming from last at the top of the straight. He worked home nicely for third and should be improved by the run and more ground. Moriarty was sound in defeat. He raced on the back of the moderate early pace. He put the pressure on at the 600m taking the lead at the 400m. He then battled on gamely in the straight when headed and just found his rivals a little too good. *ANZ
