The Kris Lees-trained three-year-old Powerline followed up his promising win at his second start scoring at Newcastle in a 3YO Maiden (1200m) on 18 October to win in good style here. He began well and showed good pace to improve along the rails to retain the lead. He then travelled well despite some early pressure, dashed clear on turning for home and he went on to win impressively by two lengths. He looks progressive and is worth watching. The Kevin Moses-trained Saddler’s Flame was last early on, improved along the rails at the turn and fought on well for second, putting up a nice effort on debut. Godolphin’s Magwitch, a winner at his last two starts, was close to the pace all the way and battled on quite well for third after seeming to have every chance.
