After placings in three of his first four starts, three-year-old Rodrico broke through for his first win in promising fashion. He settled well in fifth place on the rails before getting a split rounding the home turn. He challenged at the 200m, took the lead at the 100m and then fought back to win well. Aspen Star was sixth to the home turn, challenged strongly at the 100m and then battled well for a good second.
