Godolphin-raced colt Radcliffe put up a very promising effort in winning here at his second race start. He was nicely away but was then eased after being caught deep from his wide barrier (9) to settle in second last place. He commenced a wide move from the 600m, responded to riding from the 200m and came with a strong late run to grab a narrow but impressive win. Chris Waller-trained Sezanne was a handy third, but caught deep, moved up nearing the home turn, took the lead on straightening and was only caught coming to the post for a good second. Stablemate Aquatic was fourth, between runners, was under riding from the home turn and kept battling on to take the minor placing. Catch A Wave, another from the Chris Waller stable, raced in seventh place, between runners, before improving (wide) coming to the home turn. He was under pressure on straightening and kept fighting on to hold (3.8 lengths) fourth while another stablemate, the favourite Earth soon went to the front. He was pressured from the 600m, was overtaken on turning for home and then held on to finish (4.4 lengths) fifth.
