Les Bridge-trained three-year-old Pelorus Jack continues to race in good form and he did well in winning again here, his third win in succession at this track. He raced back in eighth place, three wide with cover, moved up (deep) at the home turn, got to the front at the 50m and held on for a narrow but good win. The Chris Waller-trained French import Carzoff impressed with his late-closing second at his Australian debut. He raced in last place in the ten-horse field, went widest of all at the home turn and then came with a strong finish to fail narrowly. He should appreciate further and is a horse to watch.
