Three-year-old gelding Choice Larga made a winning debut. He raced a bit keenly outside the leader before taking the lead on straightening. He then kept fighting on gamely to score quite well. It was a promising effort. The Les Bridge-trained filly Amazon, having her second start, was about eighth on the rails to the 400m, she got a run through in the centre on straightening and battled on nicely, although racing somewhat greenly in the later stages, for a sound second. *ANZ
