Gai Waterhouse-trained filly Sylpheed scored a very good debut win. She settled nicely in sixth place, three wide with cover, from barrier nine, before making a quick wide move coming to the home turn. She got to the front, in the centre of the track, at the 100m and then went on to score with something in hand. She looks a promising filly. Rodney Northam-trained filly Don’t Doubt Her was back in eighth place and ran on nicely in the closing stages for second in an encouraging debut effort.
