Peniaphobia was brilliantly away from his wide barrier (13) and quickly crossed the field to lead. Joao Moreira then steadied the mid-race pace to a degree, dashed clear at the 300m and fought back strongly to score impressively in a strong front-running performance. Favourite Gold-Fun raced in seventh place, between runners, got into clear running on straightening, set out after the leader at the 200m and made ground, without threatening the winner, for a good second. Not Listenin’tome was fifth, between runners, went to third on turning for home, improved to second at the 200m and battled gamely for a good third, albeit after appearing to have every chance.
