Lincoln Blue was used up from his wide barrier (7) to settle down in second position outside the leader El Fortuna. He was shuffled back to fourth one out one back when Irish Mist made a move from the rear of the field to press for the lead at the 1200m. Masa Tanaka aboard Lincoln Blue took his mount out three wide on turning for home into the clear and when balanced he quickened up well and drew away to score well. Redeem The Dream and Smiling Touch ran similar races in defeat - closing from well back in the field to take second and third respectively. Both would have been suited by a faster early pace.
